Openness leads to change

This simple belief guides my work because keeping secrets causes harm.

Examples are everywhere. People aren’t honest about their behaviors with their health care providers, preventing them from receiving the help they need. People aren’t honest with their friends, families, and lovers, leading to miscommunication, frustration, and unhappiness.

Frequently, people are keeping secrets because of stigma. They believe something about themself is disgraceful and must be kept hidden.

Through my work I dismantle stigma, so things can change for the better.

This takes many forms—developing marketing strategies for public health campaigns, curating an Instagram page to normalize queer sexuality, grant writing for nonprofits who share my goals, creating magazines that make people comfortable in their own skin, and presenting to members of congress and at national conferences.

I look forward to everything that comes next.
